Build a powerful nineteenth century industrial corporation in Furnace. Each capitalist purchases companies extracts coal iron and oil and processes those resources through increasingly productive combinations. The winner is the player who converts an efficient industrial network into the most money after four rounds.
Every round begins with an unusual auction. Players place numbered Capital Discs on company cards, but matching colours or values cannot share a card. The highest bid claims the company, while every losing bidder receives compensation multiplied by the value of the placed disc. A bid can therefore be valuable even when it is not intended to win.
During production, each acquired company can generate resources process materials into other goods or money and receive upgrades. Cards may normally be activated in any order, allowing players to construct profitable combinations. Optional Capitalist powers provide asymmetry, while the Production Chain variant locks companies into a fixed order for a more demanding planning challenge.
- Compensated Auctions: Receive resources or processing actions even when a rival wins the company
- Numbered Capital Discs: Balance bid strength against the compensation available from lower values
- Industrial Engine Building: Link production processing upgrades and income across company cards
- Flexible Production Order: Activate owned companies in the sequence that creates the best return
- Capitalist Powers: Add optional individual abilities that reshape each corporate strategy
- Production Chain Variant: Lock company order for a stricter engine planning challenge
