Scarecrow Costumes

Our collection of scarecrow costumes come in many varieties, and are available for adults and kids. Scarecrows are a decoy, usually styled to resemble a human being, and are placed in fields by farmers in order to scare off the birds; an important action to prevent them from feeding on their seeds and crops. Usually a scarecrow is dressed in old clothing and stuffed with straw or hay, and it is from this look that we take inspiration for our scarecrow fancy dress. Scarecrows have featured in many books and films over the course of history, first cited in Japans oldest book, way back in 712 AD. However, scarecrow costumes are also related to the storybook theme. And it is most likely the Scarecrow of Oz, from Baum's classic 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, that we make this connection.
